We may earn a commission if you buy products through the links on this page. Learn more.

Cornbread Hemp continues the rich history of cannabis in Kentucky, growing, processing, and formulating its CBD within the state. It offers full-spectrum products sourced from USDA-certified organic hemp.

Bottom line: Cornbread Hemp is a great choice for organic, full-spectrum CBD products.

  • Hundreds of positive customer reviews
  • Good product variety
  • Full-spectrum CBD products
  • Most products are USDA-organic
  • Transparent founder well versed in hemp

  • Low levels of minor hemp cannabinoids in many products
  • Lacking details about hemp source

Overall Rating: 4.3/5

Product Lineup 4.5/5

Cornbread Hemp carries all of the popular CBD product types, including pet options and multiple potencies. But we’d like to see more strengths or container sizes for the capsules.

Price & Value 3.5/5

Most of the company’s products cost close to $0.10 per mg of CBD, which is fairly average. But many are USDA-organic, which raises their value.

Hemp Quality 4.5/5

Cornbread uses USDA-certified organic hemp cultivated in Kentucky, which is about as good as it gets. Our only criticism is the lack of details about where exactly or how the hemp is grown.

Third-Party Testing 4.5/5

Each of the products comes with up-to-date, detailed third-party lab reports (including terpene potency). But some products contain low levels of THC and other minor hemp cannabinoids.

Customer Service & Reputation 4.5/5

Cornbread has many positive customer reviews and we like that its founder is transparent and well versed in cannabis. But it’s a relatively new brand that needs more time to build its reputation.

Cornbread Hemp Overview

Cornbread Hemp is a family-owned CBD business founded by cousins Jim Higdon and Eric Zipperle in 2019. Headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky, the company is named after the book The Cornbread Mafia written by Higdon, which draws on the rich history of cannabis in the state.

Cornbread offers full-spectrum CBD oils, capsules, gummies, topicals, and pet tinctures sourced from USDA-certified organic hemp that’s extracted with ethanol.

Most of these products are also certified by the USDA, which means both the ingredients and the processes used are also organic. That’s quite rare and difficult to achieve in the CBD industry.

As expected, Cornbread Hemp also offers comprehensive third-party lab test reports.

Did you know? Published by Jim Higdon in 2012, The Cornbread Mafia tells the true story of a group of Kentucky men who grew the largest illegal marijuana operation in the US in the 1980s.

CBD Terminology

  • Terpenes: aromatic plant compounds with a wide variety of beneficial properties (1).
  • Minor cannabinoids: CBN, CBG, and other beneficial cannabinoids found in smaller amounts than CBD. For hemp, THC also counts as a minor cannabinoid.
  • Hemp: non-intoxicating cannabis variety with high CBD and low THC levels (less than 0.3%).
  • Full-spectrum: whole-plant hemp extract containing multiple cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids. This form of CBD is about 4 times more potent than pure CBD (2).
  • Broad-spectrum: whole-plant hemp extract similar to full-spectrum CBD, but with THC removed (may contain trace amounts).
  • CBD isolate: pure CBD with all other hemp compounds removed.

Cornbread Hemp Product Lineup

Cornbread Hemp offers full-spectrum CBD oils, gummies, capsules, topicals, and even a product for pets. Most of these are certified organic by the USDA and available in several strengths.

Cornbread Hemp carries two types of CBD oils in multiple potencies, one for daytime and one for nighttime use.

Cornbread Hemp Whole Flower CBD Oil
CBD Potency 25-50 mg/ml
Volume 15-30 ml
Total CBD 375-1500 mg
Cost per mg CBD $0.07-0.09
Type Full-spectrum
Flavors Natural
Third-Party Test View report

Cornbread Hemp’s Whole Flower CBD oil is a full spectrum product made with USDA organic-certified ingredients. This unflavored CBD oil is recommended for sleep and nighttime use and comes in two strengths: medium and high.

We like this CBD oil but it would be nice to see higher minor hemp cannabinoid levels.

Cornbread Hemp Distilled CBD Oil
CBD Potency 25-50 mg/ml
Volume 15-30 ml
Total CBD 375-1500 mg
Cost per mg CBD $0.08-0.11
Type Full-spectrum
Flavors Natural
Third-Party Test View report

The distilled version uses the same organic ingredients and full-spectrum formula as the regular CBD oil but with lower THC levels. It’s recommended for use during the day and also has 25 mg and 50 mg/ml potencies.

Full-Spectrum CBD Gummies

CBD Potency 10-50 mg
Gummy Count 30
Total CBD 300-1500 mg
Cost per mg CBD $0.07-0.13
Type Full-spectrum
Third-Party Test View report

Cornbread’s CBD gummies are also certified organic, which is impressive considering that gummies contain more ingredients than CBD oil. They’re made with full-spectrum CBD and come in a low (10 mg) and high (50 mg) strength, with 30 pieces per container.

These vegan gummies are made without high-fructose corn syrup, gelatin, or artificial colors and have a mixed berry flavor. We’re particularly big fans of the 50 mg gummies because high-potency, full-spectrum CBD gummies are hard to find.

Full-Spectrum CBD Capsules

CBD Potency 25 mg
Capsule Count 30
Total CBD 750 mg
Cost per mg CBD $0.09
Type Full-spectrum
Third-Party Test View report

Cornbread’s softgel capsules provide 25 mg of full-spectrum CBD+CBDa. Cannabidiolic acid (CBDa) is the precursor to CBD which also has beneficial properties. These softgels are made with gelatin, so they’re not suitable for vegans.

While we like these softgels, we’d like to see more strength and/or capsule count options.

CBD Topicals

Cornbread Hemp sells three full-spectrum, USDA organic CBD topicals: a twist-up stick balm and two kinds of CBD lotion.

Full Spectrum CBD Balm
CBD Potency 10 mg/ml
Volume 50 ml
Total CBD 500 mg
Cost per mg CBD $0.11
Type Full-spectrum

The twist-up stick CBD balm is formulated with peppermint and arnica to help ease inflammation and pain, particularly from exercise. It contains 500 mg of full-spectrum CBD per container.

We like this simple and effective formula and the convenient stick design for use on the go.

Full Spectrum CBD Lotion
CBD Potency 8 mg/ml
Volume 60 ml
Total CBD 500 mg
Cost per mg CBD $0.10
Type Full-spectrum
Formulas 2
Third-Party Test View report

The 2 oz CBD lotions both contain 500 mg of full-spectrum CBD but with different ingredients. The Menthol formula is recommended for providing cooling pain relief to joints and muscles.

Meanwhile, the skin formula uses other ingredients like vitamin E, lemongrass oil, and tea tree oil to support healthy skin.

Having said that, the third-party tests show low levels of minor hemp cannabinoids. We expect full-spectrum products to contain higher concentrations.

CBD Oil For Pets

CBD Potency 17 mg/ml
Volume 30 ml
Total CBD 500 mg
Cost per mg CBD $0.10
Type Full-spectrum
Formulas 1
Third-Party Test View report

Designed for cats and dogs, this corndog-flavored full-spectrum CBD oil has a strength of 17 mg/ml. It also has lower THC levels than Cornbread’s regular CBD oil because dogs are more sensitive to THC (4).

We’d like to see higher levels of minor hemp cannabinoids in this tincture.

Price & Value

The easiest way to compare CBD product value is to divide the total cost by the amount of CBD. For example, if you have a 1500 mg CBD oil that costs $50, its price per milligram (mg) of CBD would be 50/1500 = $0.03 or 3 cents.

You also have to keep in mind that different CBD product categories (oils, capsules, gummies, etc.) vary in price.

Here’s the breakdown of Cornbread Hemp’s prices:

  • CBD oil: $0.07-0.11 per mg
  • Capsules: $0.09 per mg
  • Gummies: $0.07-0.13 per mg
  • Topicals: $0.10-0.11 per mg
  • Pet products: $0.10 per mg

As far as CBD products go, these prices are considered close to average. But you’re still getting above-average value since most of them are certified organic by the USDA and are full-spectrum.

Hemp Source and Production Process

Cornbread sources its organic hemp from local Kentucky farmers. The state is naturally suited for growing hemp and has historically been one of the major hemp producers in the country.

Cornbread’s hemp is certified organic by the USDA and extracted with organic sugarcane ethanol, a safe and efficient method of creating full-spectrum hemp extracts.

On top of that, the ingredients and processes used to make most of Cornbread’s products are also certified organic by the USDA, which is no easy feat.

The company also claims to only use hemp flower to make its CBD extracts, highlighted by its trademarked “Flower Only” icon.

We like this but it would be nice to get more information or proof that most CBD brands use hemp stalks or other parts of the plant with lower cannabinoid and terpene levels.

We’d also like to see more details about the production process, such as the names of the farms where the hemp is grown or specific cultivation practices.

Third-Party Testing

Cornbread Hemp sends its products for third-party testing to Kaycha Labs, one of the largest hemp and cannabis testing labs in the country. Some products are also tested by Universal Diagnostics and Blueleaf Laboratory, two Kentucky-based testing labs.

The tests not only check for cannabinoid potency but also potential contaminants and terpene levels, with the results posted on Cornbread’s website. That’s about as comprehensive as it gets for CBD testing.

Third-Party Test Results

CBD lotion third-party test report Whole-flower CBD oil third-party test report Distilled CBD oil third-party test report

We always look at third-party lab test results to confirm that CBD companies sell safe and accurate products. We check:

  • The levels of CBD, which should be within 10% of the label (3)
  • The levels of minor cannabinoids like CBG and CBC
  • The levels of THC
  • Whether the CBD type (full, broad-spectrum, or isolate) is accurate
  • Whether there are any contaminants

We’ve added the latest third-party test reports for Cornbread’s 1500 mg whole flower CBD oil, 1500 mg distilled oil, and menthol lotion above. Here’s what we found:

  • The whole flower CBD oil contained 1625 mg of CBD, which is only 8% higher than the label, which is a great result.
  • The distilled oil had 1535 mg of CBD, which is only 2% higher, another great result.
  • The menthol lotion had about 595 mg of CBD, which is 19% more than the label. That’s not the best result, especially since the test didn’t detect any other cannabinoids that should be present in a full-spectrum product. But we did find THC and other cannabinoids in an older test.

All of the tests we looked at passed for pesticides and also detected multiple terpenes, which is a good sign for full-spectrum CBD products. It’s also nice that the tests are up to date.

Overall, the results are pretty good. But some products contain low (and in at least one case, non-existing) levels of minor hemp cannabinoids like THC, CBG, and CBC, so there is room to improve.

Shipping & Returns

Cornbread Hemp offers a 30-day satisfaction guarantee. If you are not satisfied with your product, you can return it within 30 days of delivery and it will issue a full refund.

The company ships throughout the US using a variety of shipping methods, including ground, expedited, and second-day air. There’s also free shipping on orders over $75.

Customer Service & Reputation

Cornbread Hemp offers customer service by email, phone, and live chat, so it’s quite easy to reach. We also like that its founder Jim Higdon is knowledgeable about cannabis, especially in the context of Kentucky.

Although Cornbread is still a relatively new CBD company and doesn’t have the strong reputation of leading brands, customers rate its products and customer service highly. There are over a thousand positive customer reviews posted on its website.

Our Verdict: Good Option for Organic, Full-Spectrum CBD Products

Cornbread Hemp is a solid CBD company, especially if you’re a fan of full-spectrum, USDA-organic CBD products. It offers all of the popular types of CBD products in multiple strengths at reasonable prices.

Another thing we like about the brand is that it’s not afraid to only offer full-spectrum products. While some might consider this a downside, we see it as a testament to the superiority of cannabis as a whole-plant medicine.

Still, Cornbread Hemp has several areas to improve in before being considered a top-tier company.

First, the levels of THC and other minor hemp cannabinoids in some products are a little low (less than 10% of the total cannabinoid content).

Another small nitpick is that we found at least one batch of topical products that appear to only contain CBD and we’d like to see more strength or container sizes for the capsules.

We’d also like to see more info about the hemp source, like the names of actual farms or more details about how it’s cultivated. But on the whole, Cornbread is a solid brand.

Cornbread Hemp Review: Legit Organic CBD Products

With so many different brands out there, how do you separate the best from the rest?

Is Cornbread Hemp the real deal?

Keep reading for our take as we take Cornbread Hemp CBD for a test drive and see if they’re one of the better brands operating within the CBD industry. Spoiler: They are!

Here’s our in-depth Cornbread Hemp review:

Yes. Cornbread Hemp is 100% legit.

After trying half of their products, I can verify that this brand has reliable, top-of-the-line USDA organic CBD products backed by full panel lab testing.

Cornbread Hemp Summary

Cornbread Hemp is a Kentucky-based hemp brand specializing in high-quality full-spectrum CBD products. Yup. There’s no CBD Isolate to be seen over here.

  • Love it or your money back!
  • Full panel third party tested
  • Highly effective in our tests
  • USDA Certified Organic products
  • 100% Satisfaction Guarantee Policy
  • Full panel lab testing
  • Limited selection of products
  • Must spend +$75 for free shipping

Founded by cousins Eric Zipperle and Jim Higdon in 2019, they are one of the few cannabis brands to make USDA-approved organic full-spectrum CBD products.

What’s more, Cornbread Hemp is on a mission to deliver the best CBD products on the market. They use a unique extraction process that uses CBD flower only, never the stems and stalks, to craft very potent CBD oil.

All products are full panel tested by an ISO-certified third-party laboratory. A rarity in the cannabis industry.

Though they only offer CBD goodies, they have a broad range of offerings: CBD oils, gummies, capsules, topicals, and items for our four-legged friends.

Whatever product you choose, the company claims to sell the “highest quality CBD” products available. They even have a satisfaction guarantee to prove it.

Price & Value (CBD per gram/ $ CBD per mg)

What Cornbread Hemp offers is slightly pricier than other cannabis brands. On average, most of their CBD products cost $0.11 per mg of CBD.

Since they make USDA organic CBD products, this ends up being excellent value for the quality.

Hemp Source

All USDA-certified organic hemp is sourced locally from Kentucky. The brand partners with local farmers that utilize 100% organic practices.

Third-Party Testing

As we mentioned above, all Cornbread Hemp CBD products are full panel tested by an independent lab. This means that everything they sell is tested for purity and potency.

This brand practices complete transparency. All the COAs are readily accessible on their website.

Third-Party Test Results VS Actuals

The lab results are accurate too. For nearly every product I tested, the CBD levels listed on the label were pretty much identical to the COAs.

Shipping & Returns

Orders placed before 11am EST on Monday-Saturday are typically shipped the same day. Otherwise, all other orders will be shipped within 24 hours.

Shipping isn’t free unless you spend $75 or more, but they do ship to all 50 states.

They have an excellent return policy. If for any reason you’re unsatisfied with a product, you can return it for a full refund within 30 days of delivery.

Extraction Method

Cornbread Hemp uses organic sugarcane ethanol to extract their “flower-only” hemp CBD oil.

No leaves, stems, or stalks are used in the extraction process. This results in highly effective CBD products. After all, CBD is found in the flower or buds, not the other parts of the plant.

Customer Service

Cornbread Hemp prides itself on offering stellar customer service.

Their responsive support team can be reached via live chat, phone, or email on Monday-Friday 9am-6pm EST or Saturday 9am-2pm EST.

The brand shows love for their customers and confidence in their products with their excellent refund policy.

What I like about them

Cornbread Hemp has one of the best money-back guarantee policies around!

All of Cornbread Hemp’s products are backed by a 30-day satisfaction guarantee. If you’re not psyched about a product, you can return it for a full refund even if it’s been opened.

What I don’t like about them

Pricing. This isn’t the cheapest brand operating in the CBD industry. But then again, you can’t have this level of quality, true full-spectrum CBD for a low price.

Cornbread Hemp Products Review

Cornbread Hemp Whole Flower CBD Oil

Cornbread Hemp full-spectrum CBD oils will have you basking in sheer relaxation.

The tincture is formulated with, you guessed it, whole hemp flowers, full-spectrum terpenes, and organic ingredients.

Made from USDA organic MCT coconut oil and USDA certified organic hemp flower extract, this product is all-natural, vegan and gluten-free.

Cornbread Hemp CBD brings its A-game when it comes to packaging. It’s some of the nicest I’ve seen.

Each CBD oil comes in a 30 ml amber glass dropper bottle inside an attractive paper box. The box is filled with helpful information, including dosage, ingredients, QR code, diagram of the servings per dropper, and an authenticity tag.

Dosing is easy as the dropper is marked with .25 ml intervals. The whole flower CBD oil has 12.5 mg of CBD per .25 ml, which is great for micro-dosing.

Accessing the lab reports couldn’t be simpler. The brand conveniently includes QR codes and batch numbers on the box and the tincture bottle.

The COA we reviewed was performed five months ago and is at a batch level, which is pretty recent compared to some competitors’ lab reports.

In case you’re wondering, this whole flower CBD oil passed pesticide, mycotoxin, residual solvents, heavy metal, microbial and filth, and foreign matter testing.

When it comes to accuracy, the potency listed on the label was close to the COA but not exact. Per bottle, the CBD oil contains about 1440 mg of CBD and 45 mg of THC as opposed to 1500 and 60 mg respectively.

As this tincture is made with full-spectrum CBD, it tasted like concentrated hemp flower.

Needless to say, it is not very pleasing to the taste buds. I don’t particularly love the taste of hemp plants, so I added it to my tea which masked the earthy flavors.

Within 30 minutes of taking three droppers full, I was transported to my happy place. Waves of relaxation washed over me as my anxiety drifted further and further away. Before long, I couldn’t resist the drowsy effects.

This whole flower CBD oil is advertised for nighttime use, which is accurate. I fell asleep for a solid 8 hours and awoke totally refreshed.

If you’re after an effective organic full-spectrum CBD oil without artificial flavors, this product will be perfect for you.

Note, Cornbread CBD also sells distilled whole flower CBD oil if you’re looking for a daytime CBD oil product. It contains half the amount of CBD, so it should provide relief without slowing you down.

CBD Oil Price Point

The Whole Flower CBD oil costs $0.09-$0.07 per mg of CBD, depending on what size you purchase.

The 375 mg bottle is the most expensive, while the 1500 mg bottle offers the most value. You can pick up their distilled oil for the same price.

Overall, it’s decently priced. Considering it’s made with USDA-certified organic hemp, it’s a good deal.

Cornbread Hemp Full-Spectrum CBD Gummies

These Full Spectrum CBD gummies are scrumptious. These delightful chews only come in one flavor: berry. But you won’t mind!

See also  CBD Olive Oil Uses

Per usual, Cornbread Hemp’s CBD gummies are USDA organic and made with flower only, never stems or leaves.

These natural confections are vegan, gluten-free, and made without high fructose corn syrup. The main ingredients include: distilled water, organic blue agave, organic tapioca syrup, organic cane sugar, apple pectin, organic citric acid, and organic fruit flavoring.

The packaging is pristine. Placed in a glass jar with a child proof lid, the labeling contains all the crucial info you need to know, like dosage and ingredients. The secure packaging ensures the yummy edibles arrive at the peak of freshness.

Accessing the lab reports is painless. All you need to do is scan the QR code on the jar or the box. We assessed the COA and found that the gummies passed all purity testing.

However, we could not confirm the label’s accuracy when it comes to potency. The net weight of the gummies is not listed on the package. So we can’t verify if the mg/g of CBD on the COA matches the advertised strength.

Cornbread Hemp’s CBD gummies are decadent. Dusted in sugar, these candies taste like blueberries and strawberries with a hint of apple. The real fruit flavors are yummy with zero hempy aftertaste.

The effects are equally as good. I ate four gummies after a hectic day, and my headache dissipated. The stress-relieving properties were potent. I was able to unwind and decompress for hours. My mind was in a state of total calm.

The 25:1 CBD:THC ratio was perfect for easing stress.

What could be better? These gummies are large. I need three for my ideal dosage which equates to a lot of chewing. Don’t get me wrong, these confections are tasty, but the amount of sugar can get overwhelming if you need to eat a few gummies.

Those after a mouthwatering vegan CBD gummy that delivers look no further.

Price Point

The Full Spectrum CBD gummies do not come cheap. They cost about $0.13 per mg of CBD for the 300 mg package or $0.07 per mg for the 1500 mg package.

Though pricier, we think the quality and effects are worth it.

Cornbread Hemp Full-Spectrum CBD Capsules

Cornbread’s hemp CBD capsules are a potent alternative to oils and tinctures. They’re an effective way to get relief without the earthy plant taste.

They’re made with minimal ingredients: MCT coconut oil, full-spectrum hemp extract, and porcine gelatin capsule. This product is not certified organic or vegan friendly. But it is non-GMO and gluten-free.

Each capsule packs a punch with 25 mg per serving for a total of 750 mg per pack. They’re formulated with a 22:1 CBD:THC ratio, although THC potency was missing from the labeling.

Cornbread’s capsules come in a sleek cardboard box with an amber glass bottle packed inside. The glass bottle features a childproof lid.

There’s an ingredient list, potency, batch number, authenticity tag, and QR code printed on the box. A QR code is also conveniently included on the label.

We analyzed the product’s COA and found that the capsules actually tested higher than their listed potency.

There’s 30 mg of CBD and 1.25 mg of THC per capsule, making the ratio 30:1. The capsules passed all third-party tests as well.

Since these pills have a gelatin casing, there’s absolutely no aftertaste. If you dislike the taste of hemp edibles, this is an excellent option.

The capsules themselves are small and easy to swallow, which can be an issue with other pills.

This Cornbread Hemp product took a little longer to take effect, approximately one hour. After which, I felt uplifted and my mood significantly improved. My anxiety was intense before these capsules kicked in. It really helped calm my nerves.

What could be better?

I wish these capsules contained more THC like their other CBD offerings. Lower CBD to THC ratios usually offers superior relief and therapeutic properties in my experience. I was missing the more concentrated entourage effect, which, for me, brings out the best of CBD.

Price Point

These capsules cost about $0.09 per mg of CBD. This isn’t the cheapest deal, but it’s not terrible for full-spectrum CBD oil that’s effective, certified organic, and accompanied by some of the best customer service we’ve seen.

Cornbread Hemp CBD Lotion

Cornbread Hemp offers two types of CBD lotions: a menthol formula and a skin formula.

The lotions are uniquely certified USDA organic and crafted with full-spectrum flower. Finding a topical that’s made with flower instead of the whole plant is next to impossible. So this was a nice find!

Cornbread’s CBD topicals are all-natural and free of parabens and preservatives. This is great because it’s something I look for in all my beauty products. Note, it isn’t vegan friendly as it contains organic beeswax.

The lotions come in a plastic jar complete with an authenticity tag, ingredient list, total dosage, batch number, and QR code.

The QR code instantly connects you to the product’s COA, so locating lab reports are practically effortless. The lotion I received was tested less than a month ago.

After assessing the COAs, we found that the lotion contained more CBD than what was stated on the label. 564 mg, to be exact.

This product also passed pesticide, mycotoxin, residual solvents, heavy metal, microbial and filth, and foreign matter testing like the rest of their assortment.

I tested the menthol formulation and was more than happy with the results. From the scent to the effects, this lotion delivered!

When you twist open the lid, delightful aromas of lemongrass and peppermint invade your senses. The menthol scent is understated and not overpowering.

Although it’s made with full-spectrum CBD oils, you couldn’t tell it’s made with hemp. This lotion smells better than many CBD-free topicals.

Upon application, expect to experience sweet relief of any sore muscles. I dabbed this on my stiff neck, and it felt like each individual muscle fiber relaxed. The relief was instant and lasted for a few hours.

These CBD topicals seem to be gentle on delicate skin. I have very sensitive skin and didn’t experience any issues or itching. (And I applied a lot.)

The only way Cornbread could improve this topical is by offering a larger size. I thoroughly enjoyed the lotion, from the texture to the scent. So much so, I frequently reapplied it. You’ve been warned. This container goes quick!

And if lotions aren’t for you, Cornbread hemp offers a full spectrum CBD balm too.

Price Point

You can expect to pay $0.10 per mg of CBD. When you consider the lotion’s effectiveness (I felt relief in my sore neck muscles instantly) it’s a good value.

In comparison to other similar non-organic products on the market, it’s not the cheapest.

The Final Verdict: Cornbread Hemp Review

All in all, Cornbread Hemp’s products are some of the best in the biz. We’d give them all top marks for effectiveness.

This small business offers a nice variety of high-quality CBD products that are certified USDA organic. A rare find in the cannabis industry.
